Innovation
Innovation Park, Virginia
Innovation Loop is set aside for technology-based companies which want to share in a well planned park and sport cutting edge architecture. As such, the Logis-Tech project makes bold statement about the companies located here, their goals and their place in the Northern Virginia high tech marketplace.
Part of larger project, this flex-use facility is a single-story masonry building with large ribbon windows and a striking main entry. Three different colors of brick and decro-faced block combine with aluminum eyebrow canopies and brick peers with a white decro-faced block knee wall for a contemporary look. The entry is a faceted curtain wall glazing system topped with five feet of angular shaped white block, inset with glazed red brick medallions. The entire facility has an 18-foot clear ceiling height throughout and is topped with an accent band of white decro-faced block, providing a clean appearance.

Innovation Park’s proffers clearly state that it intends to attract high-tech users and to that end it stipulates that the buildings should display order and precision in a progressive way and yet the buildings should be simple and contemporary. The piers and fenestration provide order and rhythm as well as depth to the otherwise flat façade. The aluminum eyebrow synchronizes with the walls composition and creates contrast of shape and material – a dialogue between the two.
