Franklin Center

The seven-story, 209,000-square-foot Franklin Center I office building is located in the Columbia Gateway Office Park. Owner, Trammell Crow Company, had already master planned the 16-acre site.

To determine the appropriate level of architectural complexity, MGMA accounted for existing park designs, as well as overall ownership goals and objectives. The facility, constructed by Harvey Cleary Builders, has a steel composite structure and masonry veneer.

Franklin Center I is composed of two offset rectangular prisms tied vertically by a simple curvilinear form. The central portion of the structure is clad in Centria metal panels which extend to the top of the screen and provide a distinctive skyline. The lobby features a two-story space and a curved accent wall with horizontal bands of Eucalyptus wood and stone tiles.
